Functional Requirements of Primate level behavior
In looking at the purely functional requirements of behavior separately from issues such as brain localization and neurochemistry we are taking a bottom up approach to defining a system architecture, Here we look at the brain and nervous system and say "what does this do?" but to say "what functions are required for any agent to behave in a similar manner to a primate?". From there we can start to identify those functions within the brain.

Neurotransmitters involved with pre cognitive processing
At the same time as taking a functional approach to simulating primate behavior we are also studying the neurotransmitters involved in core neural functions and how they work within the body as a whole. We are looking at how the system self balances using excitation and inhibition.

Variations in brain structure and function
Here we are looking at how variations in structure and functioning within the brain produce those predicable variations in behavior patterns between individuals (personality) and how age and gender affect or are affected by brain structure and function.

∴ Current Focus

Our research focuses on the following core areas of Computational Neuroscience:

  • Functional Issues (software)
  • Data flow Issues (network)
  • Configuration Issues (hardware)
  • Adaption Issues (error correct)
  • Emergent Issues (interactions)
